Timber Folding Door Overview

futurefold timber & timber with external aluminium cladding folding door systems

The futurefold timber systems are strengthened and stabilised by a process of lamination. This is where the timber has been separated into three solid timber sections, these are bonded back together with opposing grains, achieving greater durability and are less susceptible to movement. The resulting strength of this process combined with the fibrous make up of timber ensures minimal framework and a lifetime of continued usage and reliability, in addition to the timbers superior thermal qualities.

All timber is sourced from sustainable forests; the standard timbers are Meranti (hardwood) and Nordic pine (knot-free softwood), while other timbers such as solid oak or mahogany are available by special request.

Appearance
The natural character of wood is perfectly preserved by using Sikkens micro-porous water based wood stains (i.e. they contain no harmful solvents) in a variety of stain colours. Or alternatively the timber can be paint finished to any RAL colour (over 201 RAL colours available) or different colours or wood stain to the inside and outside. As standard, futurefold timber door systems are fully finished, which consists of one basecoat and two topcoats; other finishes are available upon request. Each section is individually dip treated, ensuring equal coverage over all surfaces, protecting the timber against rotting and water penetration. The pigmentation in the treatment protects the timber against ultra violet rays and discoloration. All handles are specially designed to complement the door system; standard colours are Brown RAL 8077, White RAL 9016 or Silver RAL 9006. Gasket colour available in Brown, Black or White, with hinges mounted within seal sightline available in brown or white.

The FF80, with its external aluminium cladding is available finished to any stocked RAL colour (over 201 RAL colours available) in addition you can specify the level of paint finish. All handles and hinges are specially designed to complement the door system and available in any RAL colour, severe weather rated gaskets in black only.

Laminated Timber

Solid timber doors fitted with standard folding door hardware which has not been precision engineered and laminated in this way, will potentially experience severe problems. Temperature and climate changes over a period of time cause them to expand and stick or shrink and leak.
